I CANNOT Believe This e.l.f. Blush Palette is $6 and Shows So Well on Dark Skin!

It’s safe to say I’m blush-obsessed. Any time I try a new or new to me makeup brand, I typically go straight to the blush before anything else. Or if a brand comes out with new blush shades or anything that has to do with beautifying the cheeks, I’m all on it. So last week I was browsing through my Facebook feed minding my own business when my girls from ThisThatBeauty posted about some e.l.f. products that blew their minds so naturally I had to get all inquisitive and check out the blog post. Keep in mind I text the ThisThatBeauty girls pretty regularly but I practice good blog reading karma and read blog posts :D

So from the post I realized I needed to try the blush palette, the foundation sticks, and then I also got the concealer palette (I’ll review those separately). Mind you I don’t NEED any of this stuff—I feel it’s my beauty blogging duty to try these things and report back to all you lovely people. Because sharing is caring and what’s a good beauty girl who doesn’t share? (answer: a BAD beauty girl).

e.l.f. Blush Palette in Dark (the only one I got but it also comes in Light) contains four shades of blush in the rosy/red family. There’s three mattes and one shimmer. And when I tell you these are PIGMENTED. I had to keep checking to make sure they were e.l.f. and that it indeed retails for $6 (I caught a sale on their site where almost everything was 50% off so I paid $3 for this). All four shades also show up beautifully on deeper skin tones which is a feat because so many brands that make inexpensive blush don’t make shades that show up so well. e.l.f. knows ya’ll. e.l.f. knows.

Wear is pretty decent—after six hours the color wasn’t as bold as when I first put it on but you could still tell I had blush on. If I were to go out after that I’d have to retouch but not bad for a $6 blush palette. The packaging is also pretty durable, too. You know sometimes “cheap” makeup can come in some really flimsy packaging but the palette is pretty sturdy.

I didn’t blend the blush down or tone it down in the pics above so you can see how boldly it shows up—you can always tone down a blush by adding dusting some powder over it with a big fluffy brush or if you’re in a bind, grab a tissue and pat down.

Bottom line: Of course this won’t replace any of the shades in my beloved blush stash (you can see blush reviews here and some shades in my 50 Shades of Blush series on me here) as they don’t outperform my department store faves, but if you’re new to makeup and want something to practice with and don’t want to spend a ton OR you’re on a makeup budget, these are really great to have. I’m amazed at how boldly they show up—bravo, e.l.f.

Price and where to buy: $6 at eyeslipsface.com also check here to see where e.l.f. is sold near you. There’s two e.l.f. Studios in NYC and one in Roosevelt Field mall on Long Island.

I’m with Marie. I usually pass up e.l.f’s makeup products – I only buy their brushes. I’m gonna add this palette to my to-buy list. Thanks for the swatches and review, Danielle!
