Look Inside My NARS Pro Palette {Review + Swatches}

So the days of depotting your favorite NARS staples, adding magnets, and sticking them in Z Palettes might be behind you with the introduction of the new NARS Pro Palette. When I was a makeup artist I had plenty NARS blushers in my kit but I hadn’t gotten to the point of depotting them so I had a ton…lol. This new Pro Palette format makes the life of makeup artists and NARS enthusiasts SO much easier.

NARS sent over the NARS Pro Palette and gave me a voucher which allowed me to pick out whatever I wanted to put inside my palette. The palette itself is sleek and chic much like the NARS compacts we’re used to. I was expecting for the casing to be a bit more sturdy but it’s still pretty durable and although you could damage it if you aggressively bend it (but then why would you do that?) it does a good job of protecting your makeup assets and looking good at the same time. In my last post announcing the NARS Pro Palette, I got a question from the fabulous Candice who asked if the palette was similar to the material used in something like an Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palette and it’s funny because when I finally got the actual NARS Pro Palette, it reminded me of exactly that. I’d say this is more sturdy but along the likes of that. I do like that it isn’t bulky because it can easily fit in a kit.

So here’s what’s inside mine:

I thought the palette would be more full since I got a warning on the site that I was nearing completion of what could fit, but as you can see I could fit more shadows in there. Yes, if you’re smart and measure the dimensions of the shadows, shadow duos, blush and bronzer refills AND the NARS Pro Palette and get it pretty full without spacing. I was more like “MAKEUP! GIMME MAKEUP!” when I was putting mine together…lol.

I do wish there were more palette refill options. It took me forever to finalize my choices. I already own almost all the NARS blushers that work well on darker skin but still got a lot of repeats. The bronzers, highlighting blush, and contour blush don’t have a ton of variety for me (most don’t work well on darker skin tones anyway). I also had a hard time picking shadows because most of the refill options were similar in color and then I own quite a few already in non-palette form. This is the gift and the curse of being a beauty junkie…lol. If you own less NARS, you’ll have no problem filling up a palette of course, but I still wish there were more color options (because I’m a junkie…lol). This will probably come in the future.
